Cascade Locks, Oregon.
Cascade Locks is a town on the Oregon side of the Columbia River was named for the
series of locks built in 1896 on the Columbia River. This town is also
the starting point of the Pacific Crest National Scenic Trail. The
Columbia River Gorge is the only National Scenic Area in America and
Cascade Locks is in the heart of it.
From mid-June to the end of September, the Sternwheeler Columbia
Gorge, based in Cascade Locks makes daily two hour excursions on the
river. During the cruise, a narrative is given on local history,
Indian legends, geology and points of interest. A snack bar and
lounge, with both indoor and outdoor seating, is provided.
